Who surf
Dance
Love music
Devoted to cars
Body build
Draw crowds
Get admiration from young and old
And cook spicy food well?
Happy that your family members were all courageous
And spoke the truth
To include your un-Gabriel-like qualities in their tribute
So that other families
Who know the true texture, plaid, and burlap of marriage and family
Can be courageous too
And live in freedom
Of the judging gaze of….“They” and what-ever will “They say…?“
And not in the prison and stocks of shame and fear of exposure
But truly face the wretchedness of life
And our own wretched ways
And fall before God Seeking His mercy

What an amazing young man. What an amazing family! Body builder, big brother and protector, surfer, surfing instructor, Lifeguard, rapper, dismantler and fixer upper, trend setter, God fearing, Enjoys cooking and cooks well. So talented, so gifted. There is a saying in Ghana for people like Gabriel, when translated it means, ‘He has been here before’. He packed so much into his short life. Yes my little cousin, this was not your first journey here. Proud of who you were and the difference you made. Wishing you peace as you journey to your next assignment. The ancestors are waiting to welcome you. You were love itself and you were loved beyond measure. Infinite Holy Spirit, thank you for Gabriel and the lessons that his life has taught us. Rest in peace little cousin….God be glorified.
